Let's Get Organised

So here we are, already 6 days into 2014 and how many of you are falling back into old habits?  I'm sure I wasn't the only one ... come on guys help me out :O)

Well, that's it .. I may be a few days late but this year is going to be organised ... ORGANISED!!!

So to the tune of Let's Get Physical let me hear you all ...

Let's get organised, organised,

I wanna get Organised ....

Let me hear your fingers type ...

Okay enough of the singing, we've got organising to do peeps!

First things first we need a calendar.  You haven't got one ... well just as well Little Miss Organised has done all the work for you.

Here are a few FREE downloadable (love those two words) 2014 calendars just for you.

Love this owl calendar.  Best of all there's a huge selection of owl images which you can pick and choose for each month!  Download here

However there's not much room to write things down so this one might be better.  Lots of empty boxes to fill with plans for the year :O) Download here

Maybe you want to get the kids involved too? They will love this colouring in calendar.  Download here.

Okay, maybe, if you're like me and going for the super charge organised mode you'll want more than just a calendar.  How about a calendar and planner.  Oh yeah, you bet ya, I found you one of those for free too.  You can get it here.

Okay so we've got the calendars and the planners.   I think we need a few more things don't you?  If you are anything like me you'll love an old list.  I have them everywhere - in notebooks, diaries, on receipts, on napkins, backs of envelopes - I really mean everywhere!  However I'm plannning to keep them (okay TRY to keep them) in one place from now on so I've found a few ... sing it with me .... freeeeeeee printables to help :O)

Loving this one, available to download free from here

From the same site you can download this Daily Planner here

If you blog, like me, you might want a blog specific planner, all available to download here

I like this simple planner which I've shared before.  You can make your own following instructions here.  I like that you just print it once, stick it on the fridge (well that's where I have it) and then use post it notes to up date

Finally ... just for fun, how about this to round off your day?

Available to download here

So there you go. No excuse now.  If you don't like any of the above head over to google (or any other search engine you choose) and search for "free downloadable 2014 calendars and planners", there are LOADS out there.

I'm printing mine out as I type this post so I'll be back soon to let you know how I'm getting on.

In the meantime if you find any other planners/printables that you think are good let me know, leave a comment below.  Okay that was a sneaky way of getting you to comment ... please do.  I know there are people visiting and reading but not so much commenting .. come on now, I feel like I'm talking to myself.  Am I?

My craft room is complete

At last!

After living here for how many years, I think it might be 3!!  I've finally got a proper craft room.  No more cluttering up the kitchen table and being up all night tidying when guests are coming (hmm we'll have to see about that).  Mind you I had to give up my lovely bedroom for it, but it's oh so worth it.

So come on through and let me give you the guided tour ...

As you walk in on the right there's just some of my trimmings hanging on the curtain rail, as opposed to hidden in boxes.  At least this way I can see what I have and more importantly stop me from buying duplicates. (Of course I mean that ... ;o)

There's also some of my felt collection in this lantern (I say some as there are still a couple of boxes of fabric remnants to go through).  A selection of my most used knitting needles are on display in an old teapot.  Underneath that is a glass fronted cupboard with a selection of my fabrics where again, I can 'see' them.

Moving to your left is another lantern.  This one is full of any scraps of fabric that I use for making collage pictures, corsages, small hand sewn projects.  It's sitting on my granny's original sewing machine table with a pile of magazines underneath.

Beside the table is a pull out bed (the big red foot stool).  This is where I sit and catch up on magazines and/or do some hand sewing.

Moving to your left there's a large wardrobe (which you can't see in this pic) which is FULL of more material (but too messy at the mo to show you).  The chest of drawers are full also of sewing notions and even more material. On top of them sits my sewing machines and above them my notice board ... due a serious tidy up it appears.

Moving to your left is my fav corner of the room with my squishy armchair by the book case.  I've been sitting here catching up on all my crafty books which I've missed as they've been in storage for the past few months.

And finally the table where it all happens.  Currently there's a lot of college assignment work being done here but it's perfect for my sewing and crafts as it's in the centre of the room near all my supplies.

So there you got.  Hope you enjoyed your little tour.  Has anyone else been getting their craft room sorted for the new year?  If so I'd love to see, leave a comment with a link to your blog :O)

I've still got a few things to add but have been busy sorting in my kitchen after getting some more shelves and cupboards put up at the weekend. Yes of course I'll be sharing pics with you soon.

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Exciting times

Thanks for all the lovely comments on the spare room makeover.  Can you beleive it's had another makeover since!  I had a friend staying this weekend and I thought it needed to be a bit more adult-like.

I've been mega busy the past few weeks with all my visitors at the cottage and last weekend I threw a surprise party for my mum's 60th so I'm really only getting back on track now.   I've got some super exciting things in the pipeline but can't tell you about them just yet!  Sorry, but I've learned the hard way with blogging, not to give too much away in the early stages.  You know I'm bursting to tell you all though, but I will ... soon.  All I can say is that one of these things appeared on my vision board ... speaking of which I've achieved most of what I put on my vision board for this year already!

In the meantime the cottage is keeping tidy and the sun is beaming in the windows which is just bliss.  I thought I'd share a few pics with you ... before it gets all messy again :o)  I'm adamant that it will stay like this but as I go back to college shortly and my countdown to christmas speeds up it may not stay quite so tidy.

Hope you're all having a good week!

Job Jar

You gotta love Martha for her great ideas (well Martha and her team)

A job jar!

Like, hello, why haven't I thought of this?

My job for today is ....

Eugh it would have to be that one wouldn't it.  Never mind, as it's a rather large pile and as the rain is pouring outside and the sky a rather dark grey I think I can indulge and do the ironing whilst watching a movie ... I'm thinking a black and white Doris Day movie is in order.

Happy Monday everyone :o)

Getting organised

Okay here we go.  It's got to be at least two years that I've been waffling on about my 'spare/sewing/craft' room and how I'm going to tidy and organise it.  Well 2010 is the year it's going to happen. There's going to be less talk and more action!!

I found some lovely pics to inspire me and today I braved the icy roads to make a trip to B&Q (I've just about given up on every getting to Ikea) and got some shelving and other bits and bobs.

First thing tomorrow morning the room is getting a serious makeover.  (I'm hoping that writing this on my blog is going to give me the kick up the bum I need, otherwise I'll feel a right sausage).

Here's some of the pics I found to give me ideas ...

I've had this saved on my hard drive for a long long time so I'm afraid at this stage I can't even credit the lovely owner (if anyone recognises it please let me know).

Then there's these fab images I found on Better Homes & Gardens website.

Spot the trouser hangers in the picture below - genius!

In the meantime here are some free downloadable labels I've found that you might like for your own organising :o)

These are from Poppytalk available to download for free from here

And these are from Creature Comforts available to download for free from here

I'd love to hear about or see some of your craft spaces. Leave me a comment and a link or let me know if you've seen some good ones online.  Likewise if you've found some lovely labels let me know.  I am a stationary junkie !!

Wish me luck!

The room really is a mess, in fact it's gotten worse since this post.
