Granny Square Love

I recently got this gorgeous book from Amazon.

It's full of pretty pictures and projects all of which I want to make right now  :O)

I adore this lampshade and am keen to make one myself.  Although I burn turf in my stove which generates so much dust ... I fear the lampshade will start out bright and beautiful but end up dusty and dated in no time.

The cushion too is gorgeous but I'm sure my cat Ruby would think the same and little tufts of black hair would soon be sticking out between the stitches :O)

This stool cover however is something I might just be making.  I love it.

The bedspread is divine but the thought of weaving in all those ends is slightly (ok hugely) off putting to me right now.  Maybe I could start with the stool cover and progress to this .   Maybe?  Or maybe I could just look at the pretty pictures instead.

Typical me!  I look at all these lovely projects and colourways and do something completely different.   I've finally got a set of squares that I can stitch together (okay I have to weave all the ends in first YAWN!)

If you're new to crochet I really recommend this book.  Not only because of the pretty pictures but because the projects are great for beginners - it's simply a matter of making up lots of crochet squares and joining them together to make something lovely.  However if you have been crocheting for a long time I still think you will enjoy this book, even just for the colour combinations the author uses! You can see more of her lovely colour combinations over on her blog.

I will eventually make something with these squares .... eventually.

What about you?  What crochet project are you working on at the minute?

Web design by day, hooking by night

I don't know about you but I'm feeling much chillier in the evenings these past two weeks.  I've even had the fire lit a few times !  But you know me  ... any excuse to snuggle up on the sofa with my crochet.

I'm totally hooked on it now.  I've been making all sorts.  Mostly granny squares for a throw for my sofa and then in between I try a new motif out, most recently little hearts which I hope to make into a garland.

Apart from all that I've been busy busy sorting out my Autumn Workshops which I've had lots of bookings for so far.  I've also been doing up a new website behind the scenes as mine seems to be under the weather and is looking pretty awful at the mo.  I can't seem to fix it either which is most frustrating. Why do these things always go wrong at your busiest time ?

I was thinking of using wix to create an entirely new site.  Has anyone else used this? If not, can you recommend any other sites?

If you're seeing this I would be so grateful if you would leave a comment as it's gone very quiet around here.

Easter Makes

Hello my lovely bloggettes

Hope you all had a lovely Easter break

It has to have been better than mine ... most of which was spent curled up on the sofa feeling very poorly :o( But I can't complaign as it was rather cosy

And I did get to make lots of lovely Easter themed decorations.  My favourite of all are these Easter Eggs on my tree ...

They were made using polystyrene eggs which I painted in ice cream/Spring colours and then decoupaged rose printed napkins onto them.  I'm super pleased with how they came out.

I also got to practice my crochet skills and made lots of pretty flowers

I was quite pleased with the final result

I also made a little wreath for my door.  I didn't dare put it outside as the weather has been horrendous!!

So what have you all been up to?  Did you make lots of Easter Decorations, would love to see.  Share a link in the comments and I'll come visit.

Have a great week peeps x

Learn something new

Yay!  I can crochet!!!

Finally!

Apologies for the rather overused post title but it's true.

After lots of many frustrating hours looking at you tube videos, magazine tutorials, blog tutorials and books I finally got it!

It just all of a sudden came together.

I have wanted to crochet for so long now.

I am constantly oooohing and ahhhhing over images I see on blogs and pinterest and then when I see the word crochet I tut to myself but not anymore :O)

I started with my Mollie Makes freebie crochet hook.

Not, I know, ideal for a beginner, it is recommended that you use a 4mm hook but I am 'one of those people'.  Despite having a whole set of crochet hooks in all different sizes this was the one on the front of the magazine saying "use me, use me" so I sat for hours until I eventually made one of these ...

then I made this ..

and then this ...

 and then this ...

and I now have a whole rainbow of gorgeous crochet roses which I'm gathering together to make a little something out of soon.

I'm soooooooooooooooooo excited!

I can see why people recommend us to "learn something new", it's so satisfying.

I've already shared my new knowledge and taught a few people how to make these too.

Tickled pink with my little achievement :O)

Have you learned anything new this week?
