Easter Chick Tutorial

I know you're probably thinking it's a little early.  The christmas decorations are barely down and here I am talking about Easter.

I assure you there is method in my madness.

I thought I'd share this tutorial early to give you time to make some of these gorgeous little chicks (Easter Sunday falls on 3rd April this year).  They are ridiculously easy to do and a great starter project for kids (even adults) learning to knit.

If you have any problems with the tutorial please leave a comment or email me - michelle at michellemadethis dot com.

This is a snapshot of the tutorial but it is also available to download here.

  1. I have just come across your blog and thinking 'I wish mine was as good as this', it was a natural step forward to vote for you, too.
The blogs linked to blogger are writing and food related, but I have just started to try out a craft and grandmother related (I'm a 50 something!) micro blog on Typepad and have just forgotten the link. That's how new it is. If I can find any way to link up to others on there, I'll link to yours.
Perhaps I should have stayed with Blogger!

  2. I found you on dailyknitter.com. Are you on ravelry.com? There are several easter chick patterns there; perhaps you'd like to add this?

  3. This is so cute. Going to make some but need to know- does the needle size matter? If so, what size do you recommend?

  5. Thanks for the comments. I can't believer how many downloads there has been and yet only a few comments ... I hope there's no mistake or anything! If there is please do let me know. Feedback is always good, good or bad :o)

As for needles it totally depends on the wool you are using. I tend to use really small needles so the stitch is tighter - which is important as the eggs seem to get smaller every year .. or is that just me thinking that :o)
