Earth Day

I think the recession has made us all much more aware of how much waste we accumulate.  Well it certainly made me aware so I've been doing my bit by composting and recycling as much of my rubbish as possible.  I'm also hoping to grow as much food as possible this year in my veggie patch so let's hope the summer sunshine comes back to help out with that.

But for Earth Day I'm doing something special.

I'm planting 50 sunflowers randomly where I live and hopefully they will stop some people in their tracks and make them smile and think what a lovely place we live in.

We all need to

Stop, Look and Listen

more often and

Start Seeing and Hearing

what's around us

and concentrate more on saving it rather than destroying it.

Happy Earth Day x

  1. What a super idea! We try to do our bit and although don't have a huge plot already have some veg in raised beds. Lets hope your sprinkles of sunshine cheer everyone up.

  4. I do think the recession has forced people to think about their waste like never before - well at least since ww2. Hopefully something good will come out of the recession?!

And how lovely re the sunflowers!

  5. Oh what a delightful idea! Sunflowers! And you'll be able to give a secret little grin to yourself whenever you pass one - knowing that you were responsible for such beauty! I love it!

  6. Love the idea of planting the sunflowers :)

Have been following the reduce/reuse/recycle mantra for years now - just glad the rest of the planet are finally catching on.

  13. that is just such a lovely idea. Spreading a little sunshine :O)

Just been having a quite peruse of your blog, it's absolutely fab,and I really admire your crafts.

Totally with you on the cappuccino thing! I always have a caramel macchiato in Starbucks, and I get really annoyed with the husband when he stirs his. Why? The caramel gloop gets mixed in and you don't get that lovely sweet gunky goo on your lips. Thus ruining the entire point of having a swirl of sugary goo on the top!

I am sitting here smiling. I thought I was the only person who took 'upside down feet in snow' pics! Love it! ;o)

    Nice to meet you
